Preparing for therapy

Prepare for therapy?? That’s right! Believe it or not, there are some things that you can do to optimize your therapy session and enter it in a mindset that will best serve you. Here are 4 things to consider if you are ready to pursue therapy with me or any other provider!

  1. Am I focused on myself? This is a very important check in question prior to sitting down for your session. Many of us have people who depend on us and we extend our energy outwards constantly, but your therapy session is all about you! Make sure you’re giving yourself the attention and focus that you need and deserve.

  2. What are the most important things that I should talk about today? Sometimes my mind gets so jumbled throughout the week that I don’t even know where to start when I sit down with my therapist! It is generally good practice to take a minute or two to think about what your priorities are for your session.

  3. Did I remember to eat something before my session? It might seem silly, but not eating before a session can lead to brain fog and challenges with channeling important emotions!

  4. Are there questions I have for my therapist today or resources that I need? Don’t ever forget that you can always ask us if you need something! I speak for most of us when I say that we are welcome to questions and will do what we can to address your needs.
